Bandit is a small mixed-breed dog who enjoys attention, play and being close to his people.

At about eight years old and 15.4 pounds, this blue-gray boy brings an outgoing personality to the adoption floor at the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland.

His age does not mean he wants to sit out the fun: his shelter profile describes an energetic companion who likes joining whatever his people are doing.

For someone hoping for a smaller dog with an affectionate, lively presence, he is worth getting to know.

A good match comes first.

Families with a dog already at home must bring that dog for a meet-and-greet before adopting Bandit.

The shelter is still assessing his comfort with children and cats, so prospective adopters should discuss those introductions with the adoption team rather than assume a match.

Ask about his daily routine, exercise needs and how to help him settle into a new household.
